Every day begins with a doorway  a passage into comfort, safety, and community. The Ontario Finnish Resthome Foundation, we believe that something as simple as an entrance should reflect the warmth and accessibility we strive to provide for everyone who calls our homes their own.

This season, our focus turns to Suomi Eesti Maja (SEM), where the main entrance has grown increasingly difficult for residents and visitors to use. The existing door is heavy and unreliable, creating daily obstacles for many who rely on walkers or wheelchairs, and even delaying first responders when seconds count.

By installing a new automatic sliding door, we’ll make SEM more accessible, secure, and welcoming ensuring residents, families, and community members can come and go with ease.

SEM is more than a residence. It’s a lively place that connects people home to the Ladies Auxiliary, the Thrift Store, and Kestitupa, where friendships form and traditions thrive. A smoother, safer entrance will help keep that spirit of togetherness alive for years to come.

Our goal is to raise $40,000 to complete this vital upgrade. Every donation brings us closer to a safer, more inclusive environment for all who visit, live, and volunteer within our community.

Every step into Suomi Eesti Maja should feel easy and reassuring, allowing residents and guests to move freely without worry.
